Administrators, also known as Admins or Sysops, are editors who have been trusted with access to restricted functions that help them contribute to and modify the wiki.
Administrator tools
Additional tools administrators are granted include:
- Deleting and undeleting pages, page histories and files.
- Rename image and video files.
- Lock/protect a page so it cannot be edited or renamed by users without administrator rights.
- Block an IP address or user name from editing.
- Revert bad edits more easily using a "rollback" link.
- Edit the MediaWiki namespace to make changes to the interface.
- Discussions moderator rights.
Administrators should check the following
- Candidates for deletion – If a page or file has been labeled as such for seven days or more, it must be deleted.
- Uncategorized Pages – All pages on the Cats Wiki need to be categorized.
- Uncategorized Images – All image files on the Cats Wiki need to be categorized.
- Orphaned Pages – All pages on the Cats Wiki should be linked to another page.
Becoming an administrator
Since this is a small wiki, anyone interested in the position may ask the active bureaucrat. Provided you meet the requirements listed below, requests may be considered.
If there are no active bureaucrats, please leave a message at the wiki adoption requests page and Fandom staff can provide the rights.
Requirements
A user who wishes to become an administrator on this community should meet the following requirements:
- Be an active editor with a minimum of 300 constructive mainspace edits. This does not include blogs, message wall posts, or edits to user pages.
- Are familiar with all the functional aspects of a wiki, IE; editing, creating templates, organizing, and categorizing pages.
- Assist current users with questions and concerns, whether on user message walls, or article talk pages.
- Be trusted by the current administrators, they are a reliable part of the team.
- Have no history of serious blocks (and you must not also have any blocks at all) due to vandalism, harassment, or any other reason.
Administrator guide
See Help:Administrators' how-to guide for a guide on using administrator functions.
What can administrators not do?
Administrators should not use their administrative powers to settle editing disputes. E.g., to lock a page on a version he or she prefers in an editing dispute that is not vandalism. Administrator powers should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam, and users who make malicious edits, but not for simple disagreements between users acting in good faith. Ideally an admin should not be considered "in charge". The ideal admin is just someone who is trusted to have a few extra buttons and to use them for the benefit of the Wikia community.
